	Allen, a San Carlos Apache, shares how he was raised by his father in the traditional way. He tells how he went off to boarding school, found the bottle, and got involved in gangs. Allen became so violent that even his own people wanted him put away. But the local jail couldn't hold him. He became a fugitive-on the run from the law. The day the police finally caught him they locked him up in solitary. All hope was gone. Allen tried to hang himself. When that didn't work he decided to stop eating. He wanted to die, but he wasn't ready.
